Multiplayer Script - The Surprise Reversed

Postby Gordon Finlay » Tue Jan 24, 2012 11:49 pm

Obviously inspired by the SFC mission of the same name, I present you (and whomever you can scrounge up to fly with you) a new multiplayer scenario.

Klingon intelligence reports a fleet of Federation warships massing on their side of the neutral zone, supposedly for a field exercise. What their planners failed to take into account is that "coincidentally" a mysterious subspace shockwave originating from a system on our side of the neutal zone will be sweeping through that system just as they're set to begin. We know the shockwave will knock out their shields and temporarily disable every ship in their fleet. Your mission is to exploit this opportunity to launch a devastating first strike on the Federation. Good hunting.

I would think that many ships and that much action going on would crash the game in a heart beat.

DBF68, it's amazing to me how well the game actually handles under these conditions. I kid you not that I had a 2-player multiplayer game with that many ships, with minimal lag. (You just have to set the bandwidth high enough).

That said, I'm sure a modern game engine would not bat an eyelash at the number of ships (at the game's poly count)...

I played it and it´s great :) ! You must be very quickly, to destroyed much enemy ships as you can, because after the ships rise, hell arrives :D . The game works with no lag ( but i think, that engine use more CPU than GPU...)
