Has anyone tried applying sweetFX to KA? Might just be really good.
That or the reshade + sweetFX. It did wonders for x-wing alliance.

No, but SweetFX only supports DX 9 - 11 according to the info and KA is DX 7.

What has been done by Komat are downloadable files that bring the visuals up as significant as can be done with a game that wasn't quite all it could be, even with a highly enhanced old game engine.

These are the environment variables I use:

D3DEMU_NO_CPU_STARFIELD....0
D3DEMU_NO_LOCKABLE_Z .........0
D3DEMU_UI_30FPS........................0

Additional Options that need to be entered manually that make a world of difference.

D3DEMU_ANISOTROPY......................7 or max
D3DEMU_MSAA_QUALITY.................3 or max
D3DEMU_FORCE_BLACK_ALPHA.....0

Optional

D3DEMU_KA_LOG.........................0 - Reactivates remnants of the KA internal log and redirects its to wrapper's log.
D3DEMU_LOG_FLUSH..................0 - Flushes the log after each output to ensure that it contains all the data if the game crashes for some reason.
D3DEMU_NO_TIME_REDIRECT...0

Sorry to bring up an old topic. But I want to update that you can actually use SweetFX or Reshade in Klingon Academy.

Most of you should be using komat's wrapper. It wraps api calls to DirectX9, therefore you can install Reshade into Klingon Academy folder and set api version to Direct3D 9.
However, there is a problem that the KALaunch.exe will not work correctly and the buttons cannot display. You can still run KA.exe directly if you don't need to run from KAlaunch.exe. But if this will be a problem for you, you can try dgvoodoo2 here:
http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html
As dgvoodoo2 wraps api to DX11, you should choose "Direct3D 10+" when you install Reshade, or simply rename "d3d9.dll" to "dxgi.dll" if you have already installed Reshade.

Interesting. I'll have to take a look when I have time. Thanks.

Is that happening with the replacement KALaunch.exe that is in the combined patch?

Hi, no it was the original KALaunch.exe. I know you have a new combined patch but I didn't use it.
