Star Trek Online Official Site Operational

Postby DBF68 » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:37 am

<a href=http://www.startrekonline.com/>Star Trek Online Official Site</a>

Although, the <a href=http://www.startrekonline.com/gallery/screenshots>screenshots</a> aren't doing anything for me.

I'd be more excited if I saw this level of quality from an artist's rendering on the top of the forums.

Oddly enough, it's kind of interesting that STO is supposed to take place 20 years in the future and that picture is of past era ships used as a promotional pic for STO.

Id dont see why Defiants and Akiras and Novas wont be used 20 years after DS9.
They still have Mirandas Excelsiors and occasionally Ambassadors boping about the place and theyre 100yrs old. Akiras were 5 yr old at the end of DS9

The game premise is awesome, but I am worried that such a smaller company has opted to take it on... I am afraid the game will not be what it could be...

ST:O has been on the radar for quite a while, jumping companies... I am afraid it will suck...

It seems to me that not even the big companies seem to have any luck in the MMO category in the era of World of Warcraft. Hell, Warhammer Online (Mythic Entertainment, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts) is cutting all kinds of stuff for release. I think the real reason they want to keep to their "release deadline" is that they're trying to compete with World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King in the medieval-fantasy genre.

As for me, I want to see how gameplay looks before I have an opinion about STO one way or the other. I think it's an interesting idea, but we'll see.

if they cut out the multiplayer Bridge Crew idea,It will kill the experience for me. That happens to be probably the number 1 thing im hyped up about, getting some peeps together to control just 1 ship. Altho not being either the helmsman or tactical officer might get a little boring tho.

Btw peeps, you guys should all register on their forum and post in our KA.Com fleet thread :D

Ive jsut installed EVE again after years not playing. do you still play it John ?
If Star Trek could be remotly like Eve in scale and what not, then it could be good.
