KA re-release

Postby ADM_Evans » Mon Feb 01, 2016 6:03 pm

Hi guys.

I did try to play KA again a few years ago and posted here to say hello and things, but the game was not very stable so I gave up.

SFA and other classic ST games got released on Steam and stanadlone (I think) via gog
http://www.gog.com/game/star_trek_starfleet_academy
Unfortunately they didn't update the resolution for SFA and it only runs on 640x480, but this isnt a big deal for me. Of course, there is no multiplayer, as it ran over IPX or whatever and heat.net.

A dev hinted on the Steam forums that more games may be on the way :)

Im really hoping for a re-release which will run better on modern computers. SFA has ran now for about 10 hours without a crash, and damn, that game used to crash a lot! But saying that, it was on Windows 95 and noting was very stable back then :D

I pray to the gods that KA will have multiplayer and that enough people buy it to have some good games :)

Also, here's a site I stumbled across when reminiscing which has a history of SFA fleets and other ST gaming clans, in case anyone is interested :)

About the "hints about other Trek releases on Steam", are any of these " hints" recent?

Yes it was a few months ago when SFA etc were released.
Fingers crossed!

That was getting close to a year ago as I recall. I would also point out that the developer dropping those hints I don't think has said anything since, so I'm very skeptical.

Can't do any harm if everyone adds a vote for it :)

I spoke to a dev today, "it's on the to-do list but there is no current schedule for it".. so I wont get too excited for now :)

Who was it that you were able to talk to?

https://www.facebook.com/OldeSkuul/
They seem to do a lot for different projects. They did ST 25th Anniversary and maybe others.
I found the person from the Steam community forum for SFA. Think the name was BurgerBecky or something like that.
Then I googled the name and found she is MD of OldeSkuul so I messaged their FB page.

I don't recall SFA CTD very much. Certainly not nearly as much as KA or even the original Dark Forces JK from the *cough* OTHER compny *cough*.
